Das von der MSLD – Mobile School of Lighting Design organisierte Lichtforum „Licht + Dunkelheit“ ist ein thematisches Veranstaltungsprogramm, konzipiert von Ruairí O’Brien. Architektur. Licht. Raumkunst. zum Architektursommer Sachsen 2015 in Leipzig, anlässlich des UNESCO International YEAR of LIGHT 2015.

Anliegen des Lichtforums ist es, die Gesellschaft, Planer, Politiker und Entscheidungsträger für das vielschichtigte und wichtige Thema Licht zu sensibilisieren, allgemein die Wahrnehmung für den qualitätsvollen Einsatz von Licht zu schärfen und die effiziente und nachhaltige Nutzung der heutigen technischen Möglichkeiten zu Gunsten einer hohen Lichtqualität zu unterstützen. In diesem Sinne wurde von Ruairí O’Brien mit den Symposien „Kunst als Motor“ am 21. August 2015 und „Licht + Dunkelheit“ am 18. September 2015 als Rahmen, der thematischen Kunstausstellung mit namhaften Künstlern „28 TAGE Dunkel“ (Konzept/Kuration Jürgen Meier) vom 21. August bis 18. September 2015, sowie den Sponsoren-Veranstaltungen mit den Beleuchtungsherstellern ewo (Donnerstag, 17. September 2015) und .hess (Mittwoch, 16. September 2015) ein kompaktes, vielschichtiges und attraktives Programm zusammengestellt, welches das Universum von Licht und Dunkelheit thematisch umreißt und im Einklang präsentiert.
Lichtforum „Licht + Dunkelheit“ – Überblick Gesamtprogramm
ERÖFFNUNG: Freitag, 21.08.2015, Tapetenwerk Leipzig, Halle C01 mit Symposium / Gesprächsabend „Kunst als Motor“ um 19.00Uhr und danach Vernissage der Kunstausstellung „28 Tage Dunkel“ um 20.30Uhr
Auftaktveranstaltung und Eröffnung des Gesamtprogramms „Licht + Dunkelheit“ mit dem Podiumsgespräch „Kunst als Motor“ und Vernissage der Kunstausstellung „28 Tage Dunkel“. Das Symposium Kunst als Motor möchte über den Einfluss von Künstlern auf die sozioökonomische und immobilienwirtschaftliche Lage eines Viertels /einer Stadt diskutieren. Es wird der Frage nachgegangen, ob und inwiefern Künstler und Kunst zu einer besseren, nachhaltigeren Stadtentwicklung und Architektur beitragen können. Podiumsgäste sind:

„28 TAGE Dunkel“, 21.08.2015 bis 18.09.2015, Tapetenwerk Leipzig, Halle C01
Mit der Kunstausstellung 28 TAGE Dunkel (Ausstellungskonzept /-kuration Jürgen Meier) will das Licht + Dunkelheit Programm anlässlich des Unesco Year of Light 2015 thematische Bezüge zum Thema Licht transportieren und vermitteln. „28 Tage Dunkel“ betrachtet dabei die Renaissance der Kultur der Dunkelheit in Werken ausgewählter zeitgenössischer Künstler. „ Wenn wir über Dunkelheit reden verstärken wir zugleich die Bedeutung von gutem und anspruchsvollem LICHT“ (Ruairí O’Brien). Gezeigt werden u.a. Arbeiten von: Bea Meyer, Ute Richter, Mischa Kuball, Joachim Blank, Famed, Klara Meinhardt, Ruairí O’Brien, Armand Lecouturier, Jürgen Meier, Yvon Chabrowski, Anna Vovan.

Light Forum „Light and Darkness“ 
„Light+ Darkness” is a program of events organized by Ruairí O´Brien. Architecture. Light. Spatial Art. The theme of “Light + Darkness” was chosen by lighting designer, architect and artist Ruairí O´Brien on the occasion of the UNESCO International Year of Light 2015 and has the aim to highlight and emphasize the importance of light. “Light + Darkness” is also a part of the Architectural Summer Saxony 2015 which is organized by the chamber of architects Saxony. The Architectural Summer Saxony is a broad platform for all kinds of architectural contributions e.g. exhibitions, lectures, workshops, excursions, etc. The Architectural Summer this year will be taking place in Leipzig from the 27th of June till the 30th of September. The program “Light + Darkness” will consist of three events. The core of it is formed by the art exhibition titled “28 Days of Darkness”. For both, the opening and closing of this exhibition, there will be a symposium. The first symposium titled “Art as Engine” is the launch event for the exhibition and will discuss gentrification and how artists contribute to this socioeconomic change. Then the exhibition “28 Days of Darkness” will be displayed with works of selected contemporary artists to show the importance of light. As closing event for this exhibition the symposium “Light +Darkness” is taking place and it will be discussing the subject of light and light use in public spaces.

Art as Engine will debate the impact of artists on the socioeconomic and financial situation of a city or district. It will discuss the question if and to what extent artists and art can contribute to a better urban development and architecture.

Art Exhibition „28 Days of Darkness“
Friday the 21st of August 2015 until Friday the 18th September 2015 at the “Tapetenwerk” Leipzig, (Halle C1)
The art exhibition “28 Days of Darkness” (concept and curation by artist Jürgen Meier) will be taking place on the occasion of the UNESCO International Year of Light 2015. The aim therefore will be to build thematic references to the topic of light and to contemplate darkness in works of selected contemporary artists to show the importance of light. “If we speak about Darkness we strengthen our understanding of the importance of good and sophisticated LIGHT” (Ruairí O´Brien).
